Position Title: Grants Program Officer
Obici Healthcare Foundation seeks a new team member to manage a portion of the grant-making portfolio and programming efforts aimed at improving the health of residents of Western Tidewater Virginia and Gates County North Carolina. Grant Portfolio size averages $1.5 million each year. Primary duties include managing health related projects and funding activities; maintaining and developing relationships with key health leaders and non-profit agencies necessary to advance the mission of the Foundation; maintaining relevant health reform and access information; participating in collaborative teams throughout the community; and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the priorities, strategies and selection criteria for the foundation’s grant- making programs. Working under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Officer serves as primary support for the competitive grants program and other Foundation initiatives to advance our mission of improving health and preventing illness and disease.
Required skills and background include: A master’s degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for a degree in public health, public affairs or health administration; five or more years relevant experience in nonprofit management, community-based or philanthropic organization; a strong base of knowledge about the health care system, insurance coverage, finance and related policy issues; an understanding of the complex health care landscape including relationships between health providers, community clinics, social service agencies and other organizations and the public sector. Preference will be given to candidates with previous grant-making or grant monitoring experience and a solid understanding of database software programs and contact management systems.
