Holiday Tips
As the month of December begins, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) offers tips to ensure that children have a safe holiday season. Topics include guidelines for safe use of lights, decorations and trees, including how to check the freshness of a live Christmas tree. Toy safety tips address the importance of age-appropriate gifts and the need to avoid items with small parts for children under age three. For example, swallowing button batteries and magnets can cause serious stomach and intestinal problems, including death.
